National Suicide Prevention Month

National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month is recognized every September since 2008. September is a time that we acknowledge those affected by suicide, raise awareness, and connect individuals with suicidal ideation to treatment services.

Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: 988

988 is now the three-digit dialing code that routes callers to the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. When people call, text or chat with the 988 Lifeline, they are connected to trained counselors that are part of the existing 988 Lifeline networks, made up of over 200 local crisis centers (SAMHSA).

The previous phone number (1-800-273-8255) will always remain available to people in emotional distress or suicidal crisis.
