Animal Health & Animal Bites

Animal Health Services

The Environmental Health Specialist does the inspections and licensing of pet shops, grooming establishments and kennels. Animal Fancier inspections and licensing are issued to residents living in single family homes having 3 or more dogs and/or cats.

Animal Bites

Animal bites reported to the Health Department are investigated, followed up and appropriate actions taken to prevent the transmission of the rabies virus. Rabies is a viral disease that can affect all mammals, including humans. The rabies virus attacks the central nervous system and is usually fatal. The virus is secreted in the saliva of mammals.
