Initial site established in 1996 with an additional acre acquired in 1999. The site features the Honey Creek winding through a wooded area (henceforth the name).
A short rustic (chip) trail was created in the woods as part of a local Eagle Scout project. The site was landscaped in 1997 commemorating Arbor Day.
In 2004, the final phase of development provided a new play structure featuring swings, slides, bridges, and a climbing wall along with an open air shelter/gazebo.
The development project was awarded the 2005 Award of Merit by Wisconsin Parks and Recreation Association.
