Acquired in 2002 as part of the Woodland Ridge development and subsequently named Towering Woods Nature Area in 2003 for its natural features. Towering woods has natural trails and approximately 60 different species of native and non-native vegetation including a large stand of Red Oak and Shagbark Hickory trees.
Renamed Joan Stevens Woods in 2025. Joan Stevens is a long-time Greenfield Resident who volunteered with the Greenfield Tree Commission and Greenfield Beautification Committee.
