Rain Barrel and Rain Garden Resources

Whether we have a dry or wet summer in Greenfield this year, make the most of the rain we get and prevent it from becoming storm water pollution.

You can start making changes at your downspout.  If the spout drains to a paved area, direct it to a vegetated area. One of your best options is a rain garden.

In a rain garden, soil amendments ensure that the soil allows enough water to drain to groundwater while still holding enough moisture and nutrients to sustain plants.  Native plants also help with infiltration and are hard in times of drought.

You can also prevent runoff by attached your downspout to a rain barrel.  During dry weather, rain barrels provide a sustainable source of water to use on lawns and gardens!
