Description
Applications are being accepted for this paid, part‐time, non‐sworn opportunity ($14.00/hour). The CSO position provides an opportunity to gain practical experience while pursuing your education. The ultimate goal of the CSO program is to prepare students for a career in law enforcement.
Some of the duties include:
- Assistance at crash and crime scenes
- Parking enforcement
- Assisting motorists
- Non‐emergency calls for service
- Other general tasks as needed
Requirements
- High school diploma and valid driver’s license
- Currently enrollment in a program of study at an accredited technical school, college, or university with an emphasis in police science, criminal justice, criminology or law enforcement related study
- Ability to work flexible hours (with accommodations for attending school)
- Pass a background investigation
Part-Time Students
CSOs are criminal justice students who work part-time for the police department. CSO’s patrol the city providing non-emergent services such as:
- Disabled vehicles
- Parking enforcement
- Residence and business checks
- Traffic control
- Various administrative support functions
- Vehicle lock-out assistance
