National Wildlife Federation Yard Certification

The City of Greenfield is now registered as a National Wildlife Federation Community Habitat! Read all about it in the press release here.

But registering is just the beginning. Now we need your help in getting Greenfield officially certified! Greenfield needs 250 Habitat Certification points to receive our designation. By certifying your yard as a Wildlife Habitat, you will help our community earn points and support our goal of being a sustainable and wildlife-friendly community. Certify here!

Properties qualify by providing food, water, cover and places to raise young for wildlife. You can certify your residential property, school, church, HOA, etc., with NWF by visiting the online application page and paying a one-time $20 fee. Certifying your yard is easy and NWF offers many educational resources to help you provide the necessary habitat elements!

We have created a special "Habitat Team" that will work hard to help Greenfield achieve this distinction by meeting regularly to assure ongoing progress towards certification.

What can YOU do to help?

  • Make sure YOUR home meets criteria and is certified--get all the information you need here
  • Do your part by encouraging your Greenfield neighbors and friends to do the same
  • We get more points if common areas are certified--including public parks, HOA common areas, businesses, places of worship, farms, universities and municipal buildings.  Can you help there?
  • Join the Habitat Team!
