Captain James Pizur began his career with the Greenfield Police Department in 2004 after serving the City of Janesville Police Department for 3.5 years. As a patrol officer he served in a variety of assignments to include Taser Instructor, Field Training Officer, SWAT Team member, DARE Instructor, Evidence Technician and Crime Prevention before being promoted to a Detective in 2015 and then promoted to Patrol Sergeant in 2016. Since 2020, Captain Pizur has been instrumental in researching, writing and managing grant proposals which allowed the agency to receive innovative equipment and wellness technology totaling nearly $148,000. He currently serves as the Taser Training Coordinator responsible for purchasing Taser equipment and maintaining officer certifications.
Captain Pizur holds a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater. He is a graduate from the Leadership in Police Organizations program and the FBI LEEDA Trilogy of Leadership courses. He is currently enrolled to attend the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command in January 2025.
